RAINSBERGER

During the period when I was searching the Waltz name I also was working on the Rainsberger name. I knew that a John Rainsberger married a Mahala Waltz and believed that the father of this John was also a John Rainsberger. I found that the name in the 1880 census was Rainsberg, which is a far-cry from the oldest known family member, a Hanns Reimensberger, born abt 1630. There were many variations in spelling of the last name, with some data for the same person having different spellings!!

I was in contact with a Maurice Neverman who provided a Decendant Report for a John R Rainsberger who married a Susannah Albaugh. This caused me consternation as their children did not match with those I had. After more effort, I learned that there were 2 John Rainsberger children in the same family, one more than I initially recognized when I associated my Carol's John Rainsberg who married a Mahala Waltz with a father named John Rainsberger. One was John R, the one who married Susannah Alsbaugh, and other John Adam who married married Margaret Riner. It is this John Adam Rainsberger who Jane Grezlik proved suitable for DAR. It was this John who married Margaret Riner whose family had yet another John Rainsberg. This one married Mahala. Confused? So was I. But, thanks to the info provided by Jane Grezlik, I was able to show the "total" tree and identify correctly the line that led to the John Rainsberg who married Mahala.
